General Description
Herkimer, New York is a village located on the north side of the Mohawk River. Herkimer County encompasses four midsize communities (Herkimer, Ilion, Mohawk, and Little Falls), which combined make a strong retail market. A Super Wal-Mart and a K-Mart are located in Herkimer along with the Lowe’s Store, makes for a shopping destination for the whole area. A Price Chopper and a Sears Home Store are also in the vicinity.
The Herkimer area is known for its collection of Rockhounds, a low –inclusion quartz crystal known as “Herkimer Diamonds”.
